Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By creating a REFYN account or using REFYN, you agree to these terms. If you are using REFYN on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so on that organization's behalf.

2. Eligibility

Being finalized

REFYN accounts are intended for adults. REFYN does not currently collect age or operate a parental consent process, so a young official should use REFYN only where an appropriate consent and supervision arrangement exists outside the product. See the Privacy Policy section on children and young officials.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure. Accounts are personal. Do not share an account with another person, and do not use another person's account.

4. REFYN services

REFYN provides development tools for officials, including assignment preparation, recovery and processing after difficult assignments, conflict handling practice, development focuses and programs, mentoring and organization relationships, and AI supported guidance through Ask REFYN.

REFYN may add, change or remove features as the product develops.

5. AI supported features

Ask REFYN produces AI generated guidance. It can be incomplete or incorrect. It is guidance for your thinking, not an authoritative determination.

REFYN is not a governing body and does not make official decisions. REFYN is not emergency response, and it is not medical, mental health, legal or other licensed professional care. If you are in danger or in crisis, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.

6. Rules, competitions and professional judgment

Competition rules, mechanics, policies and disciplinary procedures vary by sport, governing body, competition, country, level and season. REFYN should not be treated as an authoritative rules interpretation unless verified authoritative source material is explicitly provided with the answer.

You remain responsible for applying the official rulebooks, competition regulations and governing body guidance that apply to your assignment, and for the decisions you make on and off the field.

7. Your content

Content you create in REFYN, including your reflections, notes, conversations, session records and profile information, remains yours. Storing it in REFYN does not transfer ownership of it to REFYN.

You grant REFYN only the permission needed to operate the service for you: to store, process, transmit and display your content to you and to the people you choose to share it with, and to process it through the AI infrastructure required to answer your questions in Ask REFYN.

8. Privacy and sharing

REFYN's visibility model is private, share with mentor, and share with organization, and private is the default. The Privacy Policy explains what each level means and what remains private.

9. Mentor relationships

Mentoring relationships require invitation and acceptance by both people, and either person may end the relationship. Mentors agree to use what an official shares for that official's development, and not for any purpose the official has not agreed to.

10. Organization relationships

Organizations may invite officials, assign development, run programs and manage their own membership. Organization access is limited to the professional information described in the Privacy Policy, and does not extend to an official's private content.

Organizations are responsible for the accuracy of the information they enter, for how they use professional information shared with them, and for their own obligations to the officials they lead.

11. Acceptable use

Use REFYN professionally and lawfully.

• Do not attempt to access another person's account or private content.
• Do not use REFYN to harass, abuse, threaten or endanger anyone, including officials, players, coaches or spectators.
• Do not use REFYN to conceal serious misconduct or a safeguarding concern.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, probe or reverse engineer the service, or to extract data at scale.
• Do not misrepresent your role, your organization or your authority.

12. Intellectual property

REFYN, the REFYN name and wordmark, the product interface, and REFYN authored content are the property of REFYN and its licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers those rights to you.

13. REFYN program content

The REFYN Leadership Development Journey and its companion book, The Purpose Driven Official, are REFYN authored content. Program material is provided for your personal development use, and for organization use where an organization is authorized to run it.

Do not copy, resell, republish or redistribute program material outside REFYN without permission. Your own responses, reflections and notes inside the program remain your content under section 7.

14. Subscriptions and billing

Being finalized

REFYN does not currently charge for access, and no billing functionality is implemented. No prices, trial periods, renewal terms, refund policy or cancellation terms are offered or implied by these terms.

If paid plans are introduced, the commercial terms will be published here and presented for agreement before any charge is made. This section must be completed and reviewed before paid launch.

15. Suspension and termination

Being finalized

You may stop using REFYN at any time. REFYN may suspend or end access to an account that violates these terms or that puts other people or the service at risk. Account deletion behavior is described in the Privacy Policy and is still being built.

16. Disclaimers

REFYN is provided as a development tool, on an as available basis, without warranty that guidance will be accurate, complete or suitable for a particular assignment, competition or decision.

REFYN does not guarantee assignments, advancement, evaluation outcomes, certification or any professional result.

17. Limitation of liability

Being finalized

To the extent permitted by applicable law, REFYN is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the service, including decisions made during an assignment.

The final limitation, indemnity, governing law and dispute resolution language is under legal review and will be completed before commercial launch. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

18. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the last updated date and the document version at the top of this page change with it. Material changes will be communicated inside the product, and continued use after a material change means you accept the updated terms.
